About the Department
The Department of Salakyatantra handles subjects in particulars with the ethology, diagnosis, prognosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of head, ear, nose, eye and throat. This department is a combination of Netra chikitsa(ophthalmology) and karna-nasa-mugha siroroga (ENT).
Vision
To evolve as a branch of Ayurveda which mainly focuses on preventive and curative aspect of ailments affecting the parts above the neck. This branch deals with management of the diseases of eye, ear, nose, oral cavity and various type of headaches.
Key Aspects of the Department
Holistic Diagnostic Framework: To provide holistic approach of diseases and treatments using contemporary tools.
Integrative Clinical Practice: Train to perform distinctive and effective therapies like classical kriya Kalpa, modified kriya Kalpa therapies, mastishka chikitsa, surgical and presurgical procedures such as leech therapy, pracchana etc
Research Orientation: Active engagement in clinical research and systematic documentation, aimed at substantiating Ayurvedic treatment protocols.
Department Museum: Department museum of Salakyatantra at present lodges specimens related to the topics of Netra chikitsa(ophthalmology) and karna-nasa-mukha, shiro-roga (ENT) for effective teaching at UG level. The Museum currently holds charts, Models, Dry and wet mount specimens, raw drugs etc.
Departmental Library: Departmental library is having a good array of Ayurvedic and Modern books related to ophthalmology and ENT.
Services Offered
Outpatient Department (OPD):
Nethra chikitsa: Department focuses on ocular conditions like Myopia, Hypermetropia, Astigmatism, Allergic conjunctivitis, Dry eye syndrome, Diabetic retinopathy, Glaucoma and many more related to the Eyes will be screened to provide the best eye care to the needful.
Karna, Nasa, Gala roga and Shiroroga: ENT is concerned with the detailed evaluation of ear, nose and throat.
In patient Department (IPD): Admission facilities for patients of Netra chikitsa(ophthalmology) and karna,nasa,mukha & shiroroga (ENT)
Therapeutic Interventions: Administration of classical kriyakarma procedures— Akshi tarpana and putapaka, Aschyotana, Netra parisheka, Anjana, Pindi and Vidalaka, Shiroabhyanga, shiropichu, shirodhara and shirobasti , Nasya, Kavala, Gandusha, Dhoomapana, & Karna purana.
