About the Department

Swasthavritta is a branch of Ayurveda that focuses on preserving health, promoting well-being, and preventing diseases. It emphasizes maintaining balance in all aspects of health through appropriate daily and seasonal routines, healthy dietary habits, ethical conduct for mental and social harmony, and integrates principles of Yoga and Naturopathy to support public and personal wellness. The department offers outpatient consultations where lifestyle disorders are managed through diet and lifestyle adjustments, Ayurvedic medicines, Yoga and Pranayama guidance, along with nature cure therapies.

Yoga and Naturopathy form a significant part of this department. Yoga and Pranayama consultations and training sessions are provided for both outpatient (OP) and inpatient (IP) patients.

Facilities and Infrastructure:

Swasthavritta Museum: The museum displays an extensive collection of models related to Social and Preventive Medicine, along with exhibits showcasing various Yoga and Naturopathy practices

Yogahall: Our dedicated Yoga Hall displaying charts of different Yogasanas, where regular training is conducted for students and patients.

Academic and co curricular activities:

Yoga practicals: The department conducts regular practical sessions in the Yoga hall, where students are trained in performing different Yoga postures and Asanas, while learning about their importance for maintaining health and well-being in everyday life.

Creative Assignments: Students actively participate in preparing assignments of demonstrating dinacharya procedures and preparing educational charts and models of these procedures, aharadravya and immunization agents as part of their academic projects.

Educational Visits : Department organizes visits to observe the functioning of the Milk Dairy,Water purification unit, Sewage treatmentunit, MCH/Family welfare centre, Visit to Primary Health Centre for knowledge of actual implementation of National health, programmes including knowledge of rural health. Visit of rural Ayurvedic dispensary, Visit to naturopathy centre to observe naturopathic treatment modalities.
